About Ms. Davis
.Welcome to 4th grade! I am very excited to have you in my classroom this year. We are going to have a memorable year filled with challenging experiences, great friendships and many aha moments.
A Little About Myself:
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio as the daughter of a loving teacher and a dynamic salesman father. Growing up in the 1960's, my older sister and I experienced the Leave it to Beaver life! Playing outside until the street lights came on, seeing black and white TV turn to color, having to talk on the phone next to my parents (no cordless phones then), roller skating on four wheels and going to school everyday in a dress.
My love of teaching started early in high school as a mentor to students starting their first year followed by two years as a camp counselor and summers as a life guard Getting my bachelor's degree at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio was a tremendous experience. I was on my way into the classroom or so I thought.
My husband Bill and I married after college and soon learned that in the early1980's finding a teaching job was not so easy. I found myself starting a 15 year career in retail, creating business plans, training staff on product knowledge, developing managers and traveling. It was an exciting and exhausting time. After our two children were born I decided to hang up my business suit!
Bill was transferred to Atlanta in 1996 and I began a wonderful job at our church's preschool teaching 4 year olds. The teaching bug had bit me again! The following year I began to substitute for many neighborhood elementary schools. In the fall of that year, I was hired as a paraprofessional at Medlock Bridge, working with 2nd grade students, taking my son and daughter to school with me. The next three years went quickly and in 2001 I jumped at the chance to be a 5th grade teacher at Medlock. With wonderful leadership and mentors, I was ready to leap over the creek in 2004 to Wilson Creek. The past fourteen
years at Wilson Creek has been challenging and rewarding.
In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, boating, reading, and traveling.
